NW Clayton Public Library’s angular lines and inviting entry gives it a unique look that nods to both the past and future. Large curved clerestory windows and an open layout floor plan brings in an abundance of natural light. The functional interior design also allows for constant views of the entire library from the circulation desk. Spaces include: the children’s area, a teen area comprised of a soundproofed multipurpose room with gaming stations, collaboration stations, a connected Makers’ room, quiet rooms, and a café. The project was developed with the community in a series of public design workshops. As a result of the inclusive design approach of the workshops, collaborators selected the new site adjacent to an existing senior living center.
